I wanted a sturdier tripod than the dinky $10 one I have. I definitely wouldn't take my chances with my DSLR on that cheap thing. This one definitely fit the bill and seemed like the best fit for my needs and budget based on reviews. It's not too pricey and it seems very sturdy for what you get. There are some plastic parts, but I suppose that is expected for the price. For my purpose as a beginning photographer, it works great. nothing special here.... but solid construction, medium weight, decent price... hard to go wrong.... becareful with locks on legs.... as you would with all tripods in this price range..... could break if mishandled... but good price/value.... ideal for second tripod....

this is a good product at a good price. it's solid construction and light weight are a great alternative for somebody on a budget. i've owned this for a couple years now and haven't had a problem.

The Velbon DF 60 is a good mid-weight stand for the money. The material and moving parts have proved appropriate. Light weight, but durable.

it's plastic.However quite stable.
I'm considering a 70-200 IS F2.8/L,so wait and see if it can carry it.
However,I think it will work perfectly until you put some huge stuffs such as 1Ds Mark3 plus a 400 4/L...
very satisfied.
