If you've never heard this man's work and you are a choir fan, this is a "must have" item. Some may find the "cluster" voicing somewhat dissonant but I love it! You can just sit back and "bathe" in the splendor of a very good choir performing some very difficult arrangements. "Sleep" is my standout favorite on this record (this is still a record, presented on a CD) My only criticism might be a soprano voice that is a bit strident at times, but that is a production issue. As a person who has been involved in choral singing for 30+ years, I have a particular fondness for a cappella works. The music of Eric Whitacre is both modern and timeless -- filled with lush harmonies and passages that flow from suspension to resolution. This is a wonderful compilation.

I cannot believe this is a University choir! Their rendition of "When David Heard" is so amazing, it brought tears to my eyes. A great buy, Eric Whitacre is simply genius at innovation.
